After nearly a year of waiting since the first teaser images, the all-new GMC Sierra electric truck is finally official. This week, the automaker announced its GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, coming in 2024 for a little over $108k.

Before we begin, it’s important to note that this is the upscale and luxurious “Edition 1” of GMC’s second electric pickup truck, with lower trims like the AT4 to follow for around $50,000. This first model has more in common with the Hummer EV than something like the Silverado EV, but that’ll change as more affordable models arrive.

As you can see from these early images, it’s undoubtedly stylish with a unique front end. GMC plans to build its new electric truck in Michigan using its popular GM Ultium battery platform and is promising some pretty impressive specs, features, and range.

For starters, GMC quoted an estimated 400 miles per charge and up to 100 miles after 10 minutes on a fast charger but didn’t mention a battery size. However, we’re hearing it’ll be about the same size as the Hummer EV.

The GMC Sierra EV Denali is all-wheel drive and packs 754HP, 785 lb-ft torque, 400 miles of range, features like crab walk and adjustable air suspension, and is rated to tow up to 9,500 lb and can haul nearly 1,300 lb of payload in the nearly 6ft bed. The company claims a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds.

Speaking of the truck bed, GMC added a neat new “mid-gate,” similar to the fold-down tailgate, only behind the passenger seats. This way, owners can lower the tailgate, drop the seats, and stow items nearly 11ft long safely in the truck bed.

Thanks to GM’s Ultium platform and 800-volt electrical architecture, the Sierra can charge at speeds of up to 350 kW. And, as expected, owners can use all that juice inside the truck to power a home with bidirectional charging.

As a reminder, the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 is the first of many trucks on the way. It’ll be available for pre-order in the next few weeks, then hit the streets in early 2024 for around $108,000, plus destination fees and any taxes and upgrades.

Future Sierra EV models like the 2024 or 2025 Sierra EV AT4 and Sierra EV Elevation will be available with different ranges, specs, and tow ratings, starting at around $50k. Head to the GMC website to reserve yours today.
